Capability

Safety data sheets (SDS) and chemical management

Upload a safety data sheet and AI builds the register entry, the workplace label and the assignments that put it in front of the right people.

What it does

Upload a sheet, get the register, print the labels

A chemical register is one of the few compliance obligations where the paperwork and the hazard are the same object. If the sheet on site is three versions old, the control measures people are following are three versions old too.

Upload the SDS and Tansi reads it: product and supplier, hazard classification, pictograms, first aid and handling. The register entry is created from the sheet rather than typed from it, and the workplace label prints from the same record.

From there it is an assignment problem. Attach the SDS to the assets that hold the chemical, the inventory item it is stocked as, and the projects where it is used — so a crew opens the sheets for their own work rather than scrolling a binder for the whole organization.

    • Crews on a project see the sheets that apply to them, not all of them
    • Runs with the asset, inventory and maintenance modules rather than beside them
    • QR access from the container or the asset, offline in the field
    • Three-year review expiry on every sheet, flagged before it lapses

Questions we get asked

Safety data sheets (SDS) and chemical management questions

What happens when we upload a safety data sheet?

AI reads the sheet and builds the register entry from it — product and supplier, hazard classification, pictograms, first aid and handling — rather than somebody retyping a PDF into a spreadsheet. You review what it produced and it goes into the register.

If we do not have the SDS, can we find one in Tansi?

Yes, as an add-on. We can provide access to a library of over 40,000 safety data sheets, so a missing sheet is a search rather than a request to a supplier who may take a week to answer.

Can we print workplace labels?

Yes, from the same record as the sheet — so the label on the container and the SDS in the register cannot drift apart. Secondary container labels print the same way.

How does a crew get only the sheets that matter to them?

An SDS is assigned to the assets that hold the chemical, the inventory item it is stocked as, and the projects it is used on. Someone working a project opens the sheets for that project rather than scrolling the whole organization’s binder — and it works offline, by QR from the container or the asset.

How do you stop a sheet going stale?

Every SDS carries a three-year review expiry, flagged before it lapses, so the version in the register is the one your people should actually be working to.
